OM System OM-5 Mark II Black with 14-150mm f/4-5.6 II Lens Kit in More Detail
M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 II Lens
The 14-150mm f/4-5.6 II lens is a versatile Micro Four Thirds zoom that covers everything from wide-angle to telephoto subjects. It features a compact and durable design, which weighs a mere 285g, which includes weather sealing that matches OM System camera bodies.
The Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus system provides fast, silent focusing for both photography and video. Optical performance is enhanced by advanced lens elements and ZERO coating, which reduces reflections and flare. With a close focusing distance of 50cm across the whole zoom range and a 58mm front filter thread, this is an ideal lens for travel, nature, and general-purpose shooting.
Compact and Portable body with 20.4MP MFT images
The OM-5 Mark II continues the OM System tradition of delivering high quality imaging in a small, rugged format. At just 370g (body only), it’s one of the lightest weather-sealed mirrorless cameras on the market, which is ideal for photographers who travel on foot or work outdoors in a range of environments.
The Live MOS sensor captures 20.4 megapixel images with excellent detail, dynamic range, and colour, and is powered by the proven TruePic IX processor.
Its compact size makes it easy to carry all day, and when paired with two small f/1.8 M.Zuiko prime lenses such as the 17mm and 45mm you can bring a complete kit that only weighs around 1kg. This makes it well suited for landscape, wildlife and travel photography, where space and weight are at a premium.

Built tough with IP53 and Super Sonic Wave Filter tech
As other OM System cameras, the OM-5 Mark II can withstand the elements, with IP53-rated weather sealing that protects against dust, splashes, and freezing temperatures. Combined with a weather-sealed M.Zuiko lens, this camera can be used in rain, snow, and dusty trails without worrying about damage.
An improved grip design in this generation compared to the original model provides a more secure and comfortable hold, making the camera easier to operate for longer periods, even with gloves or one-handed. It’s a small refinement, but one that makes a noticeable difference in the field.
The sensor is protected by Olympus’ Super Sonic Wave Filter (SSWF) technology, which vibrates at 30,000 times per second to dislodge dust and debris during lens changes. This helps maintain image quality by preventing spots and smears from settling on the sensor, which is a very useful dust reduction system if you change lenses outdoors.
Flagship-level 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation
The OM System OM-5 Mark II features flagship-level 5-axis in-body image stabilisation, which is seen in higher-end models. This provides up to 6.5 stops of compensation during general shooting, and up to 7.5 stops when paired with Sync IS-compatible lenses. This offers powerful built-in stabilisation for handheld stills and video, even in low light or with longer shutter speeds.

Dedicated Dedicated computation photography button
The OM System OM-5 Mark II features a dedicated computational photography button, which is conveniently placed on the top right shoulder of the body for intuitive access while shooting. This physical control provides instant entry to powerful in-camera features such as Live ND, handheld high-res modes, focus stacking and more.
OM System Micro Four Thirds cameras are known for advanced computational tools, and this ensures they’re easy to access in the field.
50MP / 80MP High resolution modes
The OM-5 Mark II includes two high-resolution modes that take full advantage of its image stabilisation system. With Handheld High Res Shot, you can capture 50MP images without the need for a tripod, while Tripod High Res Shot bumps this up to a very detailed 80MP image.
Both modes work by combining multiple exposures using sensor-shift technology to create a single detailed image. The result is improved clarity, sharper fine detail, and more accurate colour accuracy. High Res shots also tend to contain less image noise, giving you cleaner files with greater flexibility for post-processing, which is especially ideal for landscapes, images with a lot of textures, and still life subjects.
Live ND Mode
Live ND Mode on the OM System OM-5 Mark II provides a built-in solution for long exposure photography and compensating against bright light without the need for external filters. By digitally compositing multiple frames, it replicates the effect of a neutral density filter and is ideal for capturing movement in subjects like flowing water, waves, or moving clouds.
This model supports four levels of Live ND strength:
- ND2 (1 stop)
- ND4 (2 stops)
- ND8 (3 stops)
- ND16 (4 stops)
The effect is displayed in real time, allowing you to preview the blur directly in the EVF or on the LCD, making setup faster and more intuitive.

Focus stacking
Focus Stacking with a compatible lens on the OM-5 Mark II lets you increase depth of field by automatically capturing and merging up to 8 images with slightly deeper focus points. This is ideal for landscapes, interiors macro and close-up photography, where shallow depth of field can leave parts of the subject out of focus.
The final composite is processed in-camera and saved as a high-resolution JPEG, while the individual RAW files can also be adjusted during processing if preferred. This feature makes it easier to create sharp images from front to back, even when shooting handheld thanks to the camera’s built-in stabilisation system.
There are lots of supported lenses, all the way from the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 7-14mm F2.8 PRO through the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II, on to specialist M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 90mm F3.5 Macro IS PRO, and many more.
Multiple exposure mode
This mode enables you to combine two shots into a single composite image directly in-camera, and can be used creatively to layer subjects, blend textures, or produce artistic effects without post-processing.
The LCD displays a live preview of your first exposure, making it easier to line up your second shot with greater precision, which results in a quick and intuitive way to experiment with visual storytelling.
Live Composite mode
Live Composite mode is ideal for creative long exposure photography, including light painting, star trails, and capturing fireworks or moving traffic at night. Unlike traditional long exposures, Live Composite only adds new light to the image while keeping the darker parts correctly exposed, avoiding blown-out highlights.
The OM-5 Mark II camera continuously updates the composite image on the LCD in real-time, allowing you to see your photo build up gradually. It’s a great feature for capturing scenes in low light without overexposing bright elements, and requires no blending in post.

Starry Sky AF
The OM System OM-5 Mark II continues to support the popular Starry Sky AF, which is a dedicated autofocus mode to accurately focus on stars in the night sky. This eliminates the need for manual focusing, which can be challenging in low-light conditions, by using a specialised algorithm to detect and lock focus on pinpoint light sources.
Starry Sky AF offers two modes:
- Speed Priority gives faster focusing, and is suitable for handheld shooting with wide-angle lenses.
- Accuracy Priority focuses more precisely, which is ideal for tripod use and telephoto lenses.
This allows photographers to capture sharp, detailed images of the night sky with ease.
New Night Vision and Handheld Assist Modes
The OM-5 Mark II adds two new modes which improve usability in darker conditions.
- Night Vision Mode boosts visibility in low to enhance foreground visibility, which makes it easier to compose shots in the dark.
- Handheld Assist Mode helps when shooting long exposures without a tripod, by providing a visual guide on the LCD to show how steady the camera is.
Pro Capture up to 30fps
The OM-5 Mark II features Pro Capture mode, which starts buffering full-resolution images as soon as the shutter button is half-pressed. This allows you to capture fleeting moments like a bird caching a fish off or an airplane taking off, even if your reflexes are a little late.
Pro Capture works at up to 30fps with single AF and up to 10fps with continuous AF tracking, giving you a higher chance of nailing the perfect frame, and is particularly helpful for wildlife and fast action.

High-speed imager AF
The OM System OM-5 Mark II uses a high-speed on-sensor phase detection autofocus system with 121 cross-type AF points, matched by 121 contrast-detection points. It offers impressive coverage when composing wildlife or portrait shots, especially with options including small, mid-size, and large AF target areas, as well as fully customisable groups.
Autofocus tracking is supported across a luminance range, from -3.5 EV up to 20 EV, which allows reliable subject detection even in relatively low light, and there are four custom AF area presets for fast recall.
Focus modes include single, continuous, and manual focus, as well as more advanced options like continuous tracking with manual override. This allows the camera to maintain focus on moving subjects while still offering manual input if required. Face and eye detection AF are also available, helping you lock focus on people or animals.
Colour creator
With the Colour Creator function you can adjust hue and saturation directly in-camera. This gives you a quick and intuitive way to shift mood or atmosphere without editing. Whether warming up autumn tones or dialling in a cool cinematic look, it’s ideal for refining your images to suit the story you want to tell especially when shooting in JPEG.
New OM-Cinema 1 and 2 Video Modes
The OM-5 Mark II includes two new creative video profiles with OM-Cinema1 and OM-Cinema2, which deliver cinematic results straight out of camera, without the need for colour grading.
- OM-Cinema 1 retains strong dynamic range similar to OM-Log400, with natural mid-tones, vibrant yellows, and deep blues. Shadows are warmed up slightly for a relaxed, inviting look.
- OM-Cinema 2 also matches OM-Log400 highlights but offers a cooler take, with cyan tints in both highlights and shadows. It features lower contrast overall, giving a softer, more delicate aesthetic. Both profiles help creators shoot video that’s ready to share, with minimal post-production.

Video features
The OM System OM-5 Mark II retains a well-rounded set of video features for hybrid creators who capture footage from this small, weather-sealed camera. It records 4K video at up to 30p, delivering crisp detail and vibrant colours, with the option for slow motion capture at 120fps in Full HD.
Footage benefits from the same class-leading 5-axis image stabilisation available for stills, helping to keep your handheld movies smooth even when walking or filming on uneven terrain.
For colour grading, OM-Log 400 is also available, which retains highlight and shadow detail, while creators who want quick turnaround can shoot in the aforementioned OM-Cinema1 or OM-Cinema2 profiles.
Video can be recorded vertically for social media platforms and there’s no recording time limit, making the OM-5 Mark II ideal for long form content like interviews or vlogs.
A dedicated red record button, full manual exposure control, and the ability to connect external microphones provide further video capabilities.
Other video features
The camera offers a number of video features that make it easier to capture great content, especially when working solo.
- USB-C webcam functionality allows the camera to be used directly with a computer for live-streaming or video calls with full control over exposure and framing
- A red frame appears around the LCD screen when video is recording, giving immediate visual confirmation.
- There’s a front tally lamp, so anyone in front of the camera knows exactly when recording is live.

Updated OM System Menu
An updated user interface brings this generation camera in line with the menu systems found on the flagship OM-1 Mark II and OM-3 cameras. This improves overall usability, making it easier to navigate and more intuitive to understand, especially for newcomers to the system.
Key functions are grouped logically with clearer labelling, and the structure is designed to reduce the number of steps needed to reach frequently used settings. OM System cameras also include extensive customisation options and the OM-5 offers the ability to register and de-register custom settings easily by using the red record button. Setting the menu start position to the My tab is quick and convenient.
