This Series 3, Gitzo GT3542L Mountaineer Series 3 Long, 4-Section Tripod is the most rigid in the Mountaineer range of Gitzo carbon fibre tripods. Scaled for professional equipment, including medium format cameras and DSLRs with 300mm lens (400mm maximum), the Carbon eXact tubes and new design features of Series 3 Mountaineer tripods offer increased rigidity yet reduced weight. Having 4 Sections allows the photographer to pack smaller and travel faster with a closed length of only 59cm despite a high payload.

The latest series of Mountaineer tripods maintain the lightweight characteristics of preceding Carbon 6X models, but are even stiffer, thanks to the fibre composition of our Carbon eXact tubing and tube dimension optimisations that include larger diameters of lower leg sections.

Mountaineer tripods also feature G-lock Ultra, a redesigned version of Gitzo tripods signature leg lock system G-lock. G-lock Ultra has even more comfortable operation and reduced risk of debris entering the tubes and locking mechanisms. It is fine-tuned for the smaller differences in tube diameter between leg sections ofCarbon eXact tubes, contributing to increased stiffness of the legs.

The Ground Level Set mechanism, which lets the photographer remove the centre column to get the camera closer to the ground, has been completely redesigned for faster operation. A single simple unlocking ring under the column’s upper disc frees the column while keeping the upper disc solidly in place on the tripod, with no need to unscrew and re-fit the upper disc and hook as in previous versions.

The Gitzo GT3542L Long series 3 Carbon Fibre Tripod securely supports professional cameras with 300mm lenses (up to a maximum of 400mm), and reaches eye-level when fully extended to 178cm. This professional tripod features Carbon eXact tubing with larger leg tube diameters, including a top leg-section diameter of 32.9 mm.

High modulus carbon fibre lower leg sections make this tripod stronger, more rigid and lighter than its predecessors, making this the perfect choice for professional photographers who want highly resistant, reliable support that is light enough to carry for hours while exploring the great outdoors.

The tripod’s rapid centre column is easily removed, transforming it into a ground level set enabling photographers to capture the broadest range of perspectives. It also has a reversible column mechanism.

The tripod’s top spider is newly designed for extra rigidity, and large leg angle selectors provide broader grip-area for leg-angle adjustment. The tripod features a stabiliser hook on its centre column to add weight and increase stability when required by terrain or equipment weight. Its removable feet enable it to adapt to any type of surface. A wide array of heads and other accessories can easily be added via the 1/4? and 3/8? attachment on the upper disc.
