The Series 0 Mountaineer tripod is the lightest in the range, but also the shortest in extended height. Recommended for photographers for whom reduced equipment weight is of paramount importance, or for those using only lightweight cameras and lenses. The Series 0 uses Carbon eXact tubes with stiff HM carbon for all leg sections. For significant improvements in rigidity, tube diameters are now greater than on previous Series 0 Mountaineers: at 11.2mm, the thinnest section of the GT0542 is 40% larger than its redecessor. The top casting is also more rigid, and now features 3 leg angle settings.

The Gitzo GT0542 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a carefully designed 4-section tripod - the most compact in the Mountaineer range, folding down to just 48 cm. This professional tripod features Carbon eXact tubing with high modulus carbon fiber in all leg sections. The lowest leg section has a diameter of 11.2mm, which is 40 % larger than its predecessor, making this tripod stiffer and stronger. The Gitzo GT0542 weighs just 1.12 Kg and extends to a height of 137 cm.

The tripod’s rapid center column is easily removed or reversible, transforming it into a ground level set enabling photographers to capture the broadest range of perspectives. The Gitzo GT0542’s four-section legs are secured by G-lock Ultra twist locks with a built-in O-ring that keeps dirt and dust out of the leg mechanism. The tripod’s top spider is newly designed for extra rigidity, and large leg angle selectors provide a broader grip-area for leg-angle adjustment. The tripod features a stabilizer hook on its center column to add weight and increase stability when required.
