DJI Osmo Action 6 Adventure Combo Summary

The DJI Osmo Action 6 Adventure Combo is the flagship action camera from DJI, which features a new 1/1.1-inch square sensor and variable aperture design [4]. This Adventure Combo is better than the standard combo for users who want more accessories straight out of the box.

It boasts improvements to exposure control, low-light performance and creative options, while adding more accessories for longer recording in various locations. This makes it better for anyone who wants to travel or record extended action without stopping to charge batteries.

The Adventure Combo includes the action camera itself, three Extreme Battery Plus packs, two quick-release adapter mounts, a curved adhesive base, two locking screws and a USB-C PD cable. You also get a Multifunctional Battery Case 3, a 1.5 m Extension Rod and an Anti-Slip Pad.

This is better for everything from daily vlogging and content creation to filming action like skiing, biking or general outdoor content. The new variable aperture ranges from f/2.0 to f/4.0 [4] and is a major part of the upgrade, giving users more control in bright, and low-light conditions.

DJI’s new square sensor design is brilliant and captures up to 4K/120fps in a 4:3 format, keeping more detail for reframing to different aspects later. DJI has also added modes like Starburst [6] and SuperNight [7], which take advantage of the wider aperture and sensor improvements for night and low-light content.

The camera includes more storage with 50 GB built-in and features direct OsmoAudio support for two DJI transmitters [2], so you can record pro-level audio without a receiver.

Battery performance is up to four hours in controlled tests [1], with cold-resistance to –20 ºC for winter sports [1]. The camera is also waterproof to 20 metres when the covers are sealed correctly [3], making it suitable for water sports, holidays and outdoor trip. With more accessories included, the Osmo Action 6 Adventure Combo offers a more comprehensive setup for creators who want to record for longer, travel further or cover a wider range of activities from the get go.

DJI Osmo Action 6 Adventure Combo in More Detail

Why choose the Osmo Action 6 Adventure Combo Vs Standard Combo?

The Adventure Combo includes the Osmo Action 6 camera, but adds more accessories for longer days out enjoying yourself. You get three Extreme Battery Plus packs instead of one, which is great for travel, skiing or biking when charging isn’t really easy.

There’s a Multifunctional Battery Case 3, which stores and charges the batteries together, and makes it easier to keep organised while out and about. You also get two quick-release adapter mounts, two locking screws and a 1.5 m Extension Rod, with more options for mounting the camera or filming yourself from a distance.

These mean you can shoot for longer, switch batteries more quickly and benefit from more mounting positions without buying accessories later, which is the main difference compared to the Standard Combo.

What is the new variable aperture on the DJI Action 6?

Osmo Action 6 is the first DJI action camera to feature a variable aperture ranging from f/2.0 to f/4.0 [4], which replaces the fixed-aperture used in all previous models. This gives creators more control when shooting in bright daylight, shade, and low-light scenes.

At f/2.0, the camera can gather more light and produce cleaner images with less noise, while the smaller aperture options help achieve good exposure when recording in brighter sunlight. Incredibly the aperture system features in this ultra compact 72.8x47.2x33.1mm body, adding versatility while staying small and incredibly lightweight at just 149 g.

dji-osmo-action-6-02

Why is a wider f/2.0 aperture better?

The f/2.0 setting [4] helps the camera retain detail and colour in darker situations, which is something that becomes more noticeable when filming indoors or during sunrise or nearer sunset. The larger aperture works hand-in-hand with the new 1/1.1-inch sensor to reduce noise and improve clarity.

DJI highlights that adding the Macro Lens [5] enhances shallow depth of field at close distances, which can be perfect for food, product, or pet clips. Focus at f/4.0 ranges from 0.2 m to infinity, keeping subjects sharp across most general shooting needs.

How does Auto aperture improve exposure?

Auto aperture mode [4] lets users choose from five aperture ranges. The camera adjusts the aperture automatically within the chosen range to help maintain even exposures. This provides a great balance for creators who want control without manually switching settings all the time.

The feature adapts to low light, backlighting, or bright landscapes, so it’s easier to capture fantastic video content without constant changes. Aperture options may vary depending on the shooting mode or accessories being used, but the camera display will show you any limitations.

dji-osmo-action-6-03

What is Action 6 Starburst Mode?

Starburst mode [6] acts as a stylistic option for night environments, turning light sources into defined star points. It is ideal for urban conditions where lighting is measured above 80 lux and works best with elements like:

  • streetlights
  • illuminated signs
  • decorative lighting

The effect is achieved using the f/4.0 aperture and relies on the camera’s optical design rather than any digital processing for clean, intentional results without added artefacts, and is a great way to bring character to night scenes without editing.

New large 1/1.1-inch square sensor

The updated square sensor expands framing control and improves image quality in both bright and low-light environments. The sensor enables the Osmo Action 6 to record up to 4K/120fps in 4:3, with more height and width for reframing fro different aspect ration later.

This is ideal for creators who repurpose a single recording across horizontal, vertical, or square social media platforms. The sensor also supports high resolutions for photos up to 7168 x 5376 and expands ISO options, with video up to ISO 51200 in SuperNight mode (all other modes max at 25600).

dji-osmo-action-6-04

What is 4K Custom mode and why do you need it?

4K Custom mode uses the square sensor to record 3840x3840 video footage, which can then be cropped to different aspect ratios without major quality loss. This is useful for content for mixed format ratios, especially if the creator wants both landscape and vertical outputs from one take, like when recording Open Gate video.

The native 4K resolution also ensures that even heavy cropping is able to retain clarity, making it a brilliant camera for travel, action sports, or any situation where repeating the shot is difficult.

How does SuperNight mode improve low-light video?

SuperNight mode [7] uses a wider aperture, with the larger sensor, and an improved noise-reduction algorithm to record cleaner low-light up to 4K/60fps. It is specifically for night scenes where you want motion rather than long exposure streaks.

SuperNight mode also records in 10-bit colour, which gives a broader tonal range for colour grading. Certain functions are unavailable in this mode, including HorizonSteady, HorizonBalancing, 155° FOV, and 4:3 recording, focusing the camera on image quality.

What are the benefits of using 10-bit D-Log M colour profile?

10-bit D-Log M [8] increases flexibility for grading by retaining highlight and shadow detail compared to standard colour profiles. It can be used in standard video, Slow Motion, and Hyperlapse modes.

The Action 6 camera also offers an on-screen D-Log M preview (similar to using LUTs) which helps creators monitor exposure and colour more accurately while recording. Footage is saved in MP4 (HEVC) format, and the maximum video bitrate is up to 120 Mbps, giving enough data for really accessible post-production.

dji-osmo-action-6-05

What slow-motion capture does Osmo Action 6 support?

The Osmo Action 6 records native 4K/120fps, 2.7K/120fps, and 1080p/240fps, depending on the resolution selected. It can also generate impressive 32x Super Slow Motion [9] from 1080p/240fps footage using in-camera processing. This provides dramatic motion freezing without needing additional software.

When recording slow motion, electronic stabilisation and some shooting features are disabled, which is standard for high-frame-rate capture.

Which sports can you do with this action camera?

Osmo Action 6 excels for all sorts of sports which you might enjoy, such as:

  • Skiing and snowboarding
  • Motorcycling
  • Road and mountain biking
  • Hiking
  • Snorkelling and diving

It’s also a brilliant option for everyday vlogging and content creation.

How does the Osmo ecosystem work for real-world shooting?

The Osmo Action 6 supports a variety of accessories to broaden how and where the camera can be used for the best results. DJI has designed accessories that support everything from extreme sports to travel, as well as everyday content creation with new lenses, mounts, and audio that integrates with the compact 149 g body.

dji-osmo-action-6-06

What is OsmoAudio?

OsmoAudio allows the Action 6 to connect directly to DJI microphone transmitters [2], which completely removes the need for an external receiver. This improves portability and reduces setup, which can be useful when shooting action.

Is there a built in microphone?

Yes, the camera features three built-in microphones for great internal audio quality, and can blend ambient sound using a Backup Audio feature. This helps to capture richer sound even when there might be wind or movement causing level fluctuations.

The system records at 48 kHz, 16-bit AAC, so audio files are easy to edit for anyone who is confident editing in order to achieve the best results possible.

How does the Macro Lens work for close-up shooting?

DJI’s optional Macro Lens [5] is for close-up clips of subjects such as food, flowers, products, pets or whatever else you can think of! When attached the focus distance adjusts between 11 cm and 75 cm, and a shallow depth of field is easier to achieve at closer ranges.

Focus Peaking in the Mimo app can be used to keep subjects sharp and remember it is splash-resistant but not suitable for underwater use. Certain modes may be restricted when it is attached. The Standard Combo does not include this optional lens.

dji-osmo-action-6-07

What does FOV Boost Lens do [17]?

The FOV Boost Lens [17] expands the native 155° field of view to 182° [18], which enables wider POV shots that capture handlebars, skis, boards, or helmets with more surrounding detail. When attached the camera automatically switches to FOV Boost mode and corrects distortion based on stabilisation settings. Slow Motion recording is not supported with this accessory, and like the Macro Lens, it is splash-resistant only. These limitations are displayed clearly on the device.

How does the DJI Mimo app support content creation?

The updated Mimo app provides live preview, camera control, firmware updates, and access to templates. Users can adjust aperture, enable focus tools, and review footage stored either on the 50 GB internal storage or on a microSD card.

One-Tap Edit delivers quick turnarounds for quick sharing, and Mimo can also display D-Log M previews to monitor colour and exposure while recording.

You can also use extra tools in the Mimo app, including:

  • Sports Dashboard overlays [16] for cycling or running
  • D-Log M colour recovery for adjusting flat footage [8]
  • Live Photos and static image generation with shooting data [19]
  • InvisiStick to hide the selfie stick automatically
  • Video templates for quick edits
  • Highlight markers to flag important moments while recording

How effective is Osmo Action 6 stabilisation?

With RockSteady 3.0, RockSteady 3.0+, HorizonBalancing, and HorizonSteady Osmo Action 6 is steadier than ever. These modes offer different levels of correction depending on the selected output resolution and frame rate.

EIS is not supported in Slow Motion or Timelapse modes, and HorizonSteady and HorizonBalancing are available up to 4K/60fps in 16:9 or 4K Custom modes. This keeps movement smoother when filming running, cycling, or handheld scenes.

dji-osmo-action-6-08

How do pre-recording and high-speed capture help?

Depending on the selected duration a Pre-Rec function can store 5 seconds to 5 minutes of footage before pressing record. This can be useful for wildlife, sports, or any situation where timing is key, and means you won’t miss the action.

Does Action 6 record slow motion?

Yes, frame rates reach up to 240fps at 1080p, 120fps at 4K and 2.7K, and 100fps in certain vertical 9:16 modes. There’s even a 960fps Super Slow Motion [9]. These options help create amazing slow-mo effects with breathtaking results for any audience.

Made for everyday content creation

The compact size means this camera easily fits into a pocket or small pouch, while the dual-screen layout helps with accurate framing. The rear touchscreen measures 2.5 inches at up to 1000 cd/m² peak brightness, while the front 1.46-inch screen reaches 800 cd/m², helping visibility outdoors.

Both screens are OLED touchscreens with high brightness, so visibility stays good outdoors. Gesture Control [15] works with a simple palm gesture, including when wearing gloves. The camera also supports the GPS Bluetooth Remote Controller [20] and third-party remotes.

dji-osmo-action-6-09

How much built-in memory is included?

There’s larger built-in storage capacity of 50 GB usable space for your photo and video content, as well as microSD expansion, which supports cards at up to 1 TB. This means you can record without any cards, and add a microSD card for even longer recording if needed.

How long does the Osmo Action 6 battery last?

The camera uses a 1950 mAh battery, which is rated for approximately 240 minutes of recording in controlled lab conditions [1].

What temperatures does Action 6 work in?

Osmo Action 6 is cold-resistant and works in temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 45 °C [25], so it stays reliable outdoors in winter or summer. It also includes 50 GB of built-in storage, which means you can keep capturing clips even if you forget a card.

Is the DJI Osmo Action 6 Waterproof?

Yes, Osmo Action 6 is waterproof to 20 metres without a case [3] and to 60 metres with the optional Waterproof Case. Before submersion in water however, users must fully close the battery and USB-C covers and tighten the lens cover.

The camera has an IP68 rating when used with the Action 6 Waterproof Case but should not be used in hot springs, corrosive liquids, or extreme underwater environments. The shutter button will disable automatically at around 14 metres due to pressure changes.
