Peak Design Pro Lite Tripod Black Summary
The Peak Design Pro Lite Tripod Black features the same precision and build quality as the larger Pro and Tall tripod models, in a smaller and lighter format. Peak Design’s Pro Lite is ideal for photographers and hybrid content creators who need a stable carbon fibre tripod but want something that is a little bit lighter for travel or on-location, without actually being a travel tripod. At 1.7 kg, it’s easily light enough to store in your backpack while still featuring an 15.9 kg load capacity to handle a full-frame camera and heavier lens.
The tripod is made from 3K carbon fibre with CNC-machined 6061-T6 recycled aluminium components, as well as updated leg locks for quicker setup and a thinner finish. It includes the same significantly upgraded Pro Ball Head as the rest of the range, which provides fluid-style panning, smooth movement and a secure quick-lock Arca-compatible plate. Each lever and control is positive, and the legs deploy quickly when you need to set up as quickly as possible.

The Pro Lite easily supports most camera systems, extends to a maximum 162.5 cm with the centre column extended, and folds down to just 48.8 cm, with a shape slim folded profile. It’s also compatible with Peak Design’s Tilt Mod accessory, which converts the ball head into a fluid pan-and-tilt head for video recording. For creators who want a hybrid tripod that’s portable while still delivering pro-level performance, this Pro Lite makes a great deal of sense.
Peak Design Pro Lite Tripod Black in More Detail
The Pro Lite is the most portable version of the Pro tripod range, and is ideal for creators who travel frequently or shoot while on the go on foot. It’s around 200 g lighter and slightly smaller when packed than the standard Pro tripod, yet still uses the same leg design, hardware, and Pro Ball Head.
Stability is excellent for either a mirrorless or DSLR system, and it’s a big improvement from the Travel Tripod in both rigidity and working height. This model is ideal for anyone who wants professional capability in the smallest possible size.

Professional Stability and Build
The Pro Tripod increases stiffness and reach compared to the highly popular Travel Tripod, while keeping a compact folded-down shape. It features 3K 2x2 twill carbon fibre legs with an all CNC-machined 6061-T6 recycled aluminium hub, locks and hardware.
A flanged centre column adds rigidity, and the tripod supports loads of up to 18.1 kg, catering to full-frame camera bodies, longer lenses and even compact video setups. Non-slip polyurethane feet are also included, which help with grip and vibration damping when shooting on hard ground.
Included Pro Ball Head
The included Pro Ball Head has been completely redesigned for smoother movement and more precise control. It now offers fluid panning with a dedicated pan lock, omnidirectional ball movement, and there’s an always-visible bubble level to get the horizon level, as well as a quick-lock camera connection with a safety toggle.
You can adjust the head’s holding force via an adjustment ring and locking ring cinch guide, while still achieving up to 15 degrees of adjustment, even with the centre column stowed. The Arca-compatible geometry uses a plate lock ring and removable plate pins, with a clear safety lock indicator and insertion indicator to keep your gear 100% secure
Faster Setup and Easy Maintenance
The leg lock levers have been re-designed for a smoother, stronger action, which also helps to ensure that setup and pack-down are really quick with this tripod. Flush-sitting leg angle adjusters keep the packed profile more flush, and are simple to use with a push button.
The redesigned leg sections also disassemble more easily for cleaning after beach or winter shoots, and users can adjust the legs for low and inverted modes, for low-angle shooting when needed.

Compact Carry
Despite the pro design, the packed-down shape is compact, with minimal wasted space, so it slides into and straps onto a backpack without getting caught. There are even anchor point, which let you attach Peak Design camera straps if you prefer to carry it between locations hands-free.
Integrated Tools and Accessories
A magnetic dual-ended hex tool is stowed in the centre column, ready for when you need to make any quick adjustments. A mobile mount is available as an optional accessory that also sits inside the column.
The system works with the Tilt Mod Ball Head Video Adapter, which gives fluid pan and tilt with a compact handle and counterbalance, and with the Pro Levelling Base if you want to a dedicated video, gimbal, geared or three-way head. Optional Pro Tripod Spike Feet Pro Lite and a carrying case complete Peak Design’s Pro ecosystem.

Hybrid Tripod for Photo and Video
This is a hybrid support that caters to both stills and video. The ball head has integrated fluid panning for simple moves, and with the optional Tilt Mod attached you can smooth pan and tilt with fluid drag and a spring-loaded counterbalance.
Pro Tripod vs Travel Tripod
Compared with the Travel Tripod, the Pro Tripod is stiffer, more stable and rated for double the load capacity. The Pro is CNC-machined aluminium, while the Travel tripod has some cast, powder-coated parts.
The upgraded Pro Ball Head adds integrated fluid panning, a faster quick-lock, a clearer tension gauge, a safety toggle and 15º adjustment even with the column stowed. Pro tripod controls such as the leg locks, centre column knob and angle adjusters have been adjusted for smoother action, and leg sections are simpler to strip down for cleaning.
The Pro Tripod weighs around 1.9 kg, closes to 50.1 cm, and reaches 168.4 cm high with the column up. By comparison, the Travel Tripod Carbon comes in at about 1.27 kg, packs to 39.4 cm, reaches 152.4 cm with the column up, and has 5-leg sections (vs 4) with a 9.1 kg capacity. The Pro is ideal for when you need more height, stiffness and capacity, while the Travel tripod is perfect when size and weight are your priority.
