Its’ 36mm equivalent focal width (full-frame format) lends itself to everything from portraits and landscapes to travel and food photography. It’s also a favourite amongst videographers for the slightly wide, yet standard field of view, which helps to tell a story without distorting the scene. Well-controlled focus breathing contributes to its effectiveness for recording captivating movies without shift in the angle of view as you pull focus.

Nikon has employed nine optical elements, including two aspherical elements for the optical design, which ensures sharp, brilliant results right across the frame. The bright f/1.7 is perfect for handheld shooting in low light, so you can capture fleeting street photography scenes and naturally lit portraits with ease, even in near darkness.
