The Laowa 24mm f/14 2x Macro Probe Lens for Nikon Z is the first consumer-grade probe Nikon mirrorless lens. This unusual specialist lens has a 40cm long tubular barrel, is fully waterproof and features a built-in LED light to create a wide 84.1° Bug-Eye perspective that cannot be achieved by a conventional macro lens.

The wide angle field of view and maximum f/14 aperture help capture a deeper depth of field. This shows close-up subjects within their environment at up to 2:1 double life-size rather than isolated as with telephoto macros.

For traditional macro lenses, you need to get really close to your subject in order to take a good macro shot, which isn’t always possible. Thanks to the 40cm long barrel, you can focus really close to the subject but still keep yourself and your camera a reasonable distance away. This feature is super useful and makes your macro shooting so much easier. Imagine how convenient it will be to shoot a frog hiding in the bushes using our Probe lens, compared to getting your typical 100mm macro lens super close to it to avoid leaves blocking your subject.

The included LED ring light (powered by an optional external battery) is embedded in the lens tip to provide additional lighting for focus assistance. In most cases, the more lighting you have on your subject, the better your shot will look. An included variable-output Control cable lets you adjust the amount of light from the LED. The Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe can cover both the standard 35mm full frame & Super35 image sensor.
