With the GoPro MAX 2, which is the next-generation ultra-compact 8K 360 action camera from GoPro, you can capture incredible footage, which you reframe later without worrying about where the lenses are pointed. It captures everything around you in true 8K 360º video while completely erasing any extension pole from the shot. That means from one video you can capture immersive point-of-view footage, selfies and follow-cam footage in everything from vertical for TikTok to widescreen for YouTube.

Once you’ve captured the action, you can reframe your 360 footage into traditional 4K videos by using the GoPro Quik app, which can then be shared just like you would with any standard video. The camera includes 1/4-20 mounting threads for mounting on a pole for incredible selfies, including stunning drone-like videos that look like you’re being recorded from the air, and other iconic 360 shots. You can also adjust video stabilisation and Horizon Lock after recording, and MAX 2 features replaceable lenses so you can swap them if they get scratched or damaged.

With a true 8K 360 camera, your adventures can be exported in a range of formats like Super Slo-Mo in 360, and there are plenty of options for colour grading if you’re an advanced user with 10-bit colour in 8K + GP Log. MAX 2 can also capture ultra high-res 29MP 360 photos of everything around you, with loads of 360 Modes and CameraFX for dynamic content with just a few taps on the screen.

True 8K 360 Video

MAX 2 captures everything around you in True 8K 360 video, giving up to 21% more resolution than the competition.¹ You don’t need to frame shots or think about where the camera is pointed — just hit record and it gets the whole scene in sharp detail. Afterwards, use the GoPro Quik app to reframe your 360 footage into standard 4K clips in a few taps. These Ultra HD videos can be saved, shared, and played back on phones, TVs or any device that supports 4K.

Invisible Mounting

When mounted on an extension pole the MAX 2 makes the pole disappear from your shots. Using the 1/4-20 mounting threads on the base, you can create floating selfies, drone-like perspectives, and smooth follow-cam shots that look as if someone else is filming you.

The Best POV

360 recording means you can capture wide, tall, and fully immersive POV footage from a single clip. That includes selfies, over-the-shoulder views, or follow-cam perspectives. In the Quik app you can reframe the footage later, changing angles or adding movement so you get exactly the viewpoint you want. You can also apply stabilisation or Horizon Lock⁴ after recording.

Replaceable Glass Lenses

The MAX 2 uses super-strong water-repelling optical glass for its protective lenses. If they do get scratched, you don’t need to replace the entire camera — just swap in new lenses and continue shooting. This gives more confidence when recording in harsher conditions.

Super Slo-Mo 360

You can record 4K100 spherical video for smooth 3x slow motion, or choose 5.6K60 for 2x slow motion. Both options let you slow the action down while keeping resolution high.

10-bit Colour in True 8K + GP Log

MAX 2 records over one billion colours in True 8K, giving smoother gradations and a more realistic look. Advanced users can switch to GP Log for more detail and grading control in post-production, with a LUT included to simplify the workflow.

Epic 29MP 360 Photos

Still capture reaches 29MP, giving ultra-high-resolution spherical photos. These allow you to crop, zoom, and reframe in the Quik app, making it easy to create different outputs from one image. You’ll capture the action and the surrounding reactions in a single press of the shutter.

GoPro Quik App for Easy Editing

Reframing 360 footage in the Quik app is straightforward. You can select your favourite angles, track objects, add transitions, and even combine multiple Reframe modes in a single clip. All of this can be done with a few taps on your phone.

360 Modes + CameraFX

MAX 2 adds tools designed specifically for 360 content. MotionFrame lets you simply move your phone to find the best angles, or you can set keyframes in the app and have smooth transitions created automatically. CameraFX adds creative effects such as Spin, Flip, Roll, Wobble, Tiny Planet, and more.

Easy POV + Selfie Modes

The camera plays back footage automatically from a 180° front-facing view or the reverse angle for third-person selfies. You still capture everything in 360, but the playback options make it easier to see yourself centred in the action.

Use MAX 2 to create 8K 360 time lapse clips during the day, or capture a sequence of time lapse photos to choose the best stills later. 360 Night Lapse automatically adjusts settings for long exposures in low light.

MAX 2 is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth BLE 5.3 for quicker wireless transfers through the Quik app. You can also transfer with a USB-C cable.⁶ With a GoPro subscription⁵, the camera can auto-upload to the cloud whenever it’s charging at home on Wi-Fi. SD card transfer to computer is also supported.

Intuitive Touch Screen

The LCD touchscreen shows a live view from either lens when recording in 360. It responds quickly, so you can swap modes, adjust settings, or review clips with a few taps and swipes.
