DJI Avata 360 Fly More Combo (RC 2) Summary

The DJI Avata 360 Fly More Combo (RC 2) is DJI’s first 360° drone, combining immersive aerial capture with the flexibility to reframe footage after shooting. Using dual sensors, the flagship camera drone records native 8K/60fps 360° HDR video and 120MP photos, while also offering Single Lens 4K recording for more traditional output.

This version includes the RC 2 controller for precise flight and camera control, along with three Intelligent Flight Batteries and a Two-Way Charging Hub. Each battery provides up to 23 minutes of flight time, allowing extended shooting sessions with fewer interruptions. It suits creators who want to capture full scenes in one take and work across multiple formats without committing to a single framing in the air.

DJI Avata 360 Fly More Combo (RC 2) In More Detail

360º Imaging System

Avata 360 has two 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensors, each with 64MP effective resolution. In 360° capture, the imaging area is equivalent to a 1-inch sensor with a 4:3 aspect ratio. This setup records native 8K 360° HDR video at up to 60fps and supports 120MP stills at a maximum resolution of 15520 x 7760.

The sensors use a square format to increase vertical pixel count, which supports full 360° coverage and improves reframing flexibility in post. With an f/1.9 aperture, 2.4 μm pixels and up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range, the camera maintains detail in both highlights and shadow areas.

RAW photo capture is available in DNG alongside JPEG.

360° Video

360° mode records in 8K or 6K at up to 60fps using OSV or MP4 (H.265), with a maximum bitrate of 180 Mbps. This mode supports:

  • HDR recording
  • Reframing
  • Virtual gimbal control
  • Spotlight Free
  • ActiveTrack 360°

All of these are available in 360° mode. Footage can be exported directly using the original framing or easily reframed in post to produce multiple edits from a single 360 clip.

Single Lens Video

Single Lens mode records flat video at up to 4K/60fps or 2.7K/120fps in 4:3 or 16:9.

This mode provides a more conventional output and supports RockSteady stabilisation, with HorizonBalancing available when using goggles paired with a motion or FPV controller. Some frame rates and aspect ratios depend on the control method used.

Tracking Features

ActiveTrack 360° automatically selects between tracking behaviours depending on subject movement and is available when using a standard remote controller. Standard mode maintains a consistent distance and height relative to the subject, while Cycling mode responds more quickly to changes in direction to keep fast-moving subjects framed. Spotlight Free locks onto a subject and assists with camera movement without requiring manual framing, allowing the aircraft to be flown freely while maintaining composition. Additional automatic framing modes support Circle and Dronie shots without manual adjustment.

Gimbal

A single-axis mechanical tilt gimbal works alongside a 360° virtual gimbal, which allows tilt and roll adjustment across ±180°. This removes physical framing limits and enables rotation, horizon adjustment and simulated camera moves such as dolly zoom or asteroid effects.

FPV

FPV gimbal mode introduces roll into footage to create a more dynamic perspective and can be applied during capture or added later in post-production.

Flight Performance

The aircraft weighs approximately 455g and supports speeds up to 18 m/s in Sport mode.

Maximum wind resistance is rated at 10.7 m/s, with a maximum take-off altitude of 4500 m. Flight time is up to 23 minutes, with hovering up to 22 minutes under controlled conditions.

Obstacle Sensing System

Obstacle sensing incudes an omnidirectional vision system with forward-facing LiDAR and a downward infrared sensor. In 360° mode, sensing operates in all directions on surfaces with sufficient texture in lighting above 1 lux. In Single Lens mode, sensing is limited to forward detection. The integrated propeller guard provides additional physical protection during close flight.

Video Transmission

The O4+ transmission system delivers live video up to 1080p/60fps, with 1080p/100fps available in Single Lens mode when using goggles and motion control. Maximum transmission distance is up to 20 km under FCC conditions, or 10 km under CE, with actual performance depending on environment and interference.

360 Video Workflow

360° capture changes how footage is produced, as a full scene can be recorded in a single flight and reframed later, allowing multiple outputs from the same clip. Footage can also be exported directly based on the original framing without additional editing.

Editing is supported in the DJI Fly app and DJI Studio, with features including intelligent subject tracking, one-tap reframing and GyroFrame control, where device movement is used to define camera angles. DJI Studio provides additional editing tools for desktop workflows, and a plugin supports editing directly in Adobe Premiere Pro.

On-board Storage and Fast Data Transfer

The aircraft includes 42GB of internal storage, which is equivalent to approximately 30 minutes of 8K 360° video. It also supports high-speed microSD cards for extended recording. Wi-Fi 6 enables transfer speeds of up to 100 MB/s under ideal conditions, with files transferable through the DJI Fly app without removing the card. Transfers can continue in the background while using other apps.

Avata 360 Intelligent Flight Battery

The DJI Avata 360 Intelligent Flight Battery provides up to 23 minutes of flight time and uses a Li-ion design with a capacity of at least 2700 mAh.

Build and User Maintenance

Integrated propeller guard protects the aircraft during flight, while the front lens elements are replaceable. An optional DJI Avata 360 Replacement Lens Kit + Tools allows the front elements to be swapped without sending the aircraft in for repair.

Regular care includes checking propeller screws and keeping the lens surfaces clear of debris to avoid damage.

Control Options

This version includes DJI RC 2, which provides control over flight and camera movement through an integrated display, along with three Intelligent Flight Batteries and Avata 360 Two-Way Charging Hub for extended sessions.

For an immersive experience, the DJI Avata 360 Motion Fly More Combo includes RC Motion 3 and Goggles N3, enabling head tracking and motion-based control. The standard DJI Avata 360 (RC 2) is also available with a single battery for a more compact setup.

The aircraft is compatible with RC-N2, RC-N3, Goggles 3, Goggles N3, RC Motion 3 and FPV Remote Controller 3. Feature availability varies depending on the control method, with some functions such as acrobatic manoeuvres and head tracking limited to goggles-based operation. Dual-channel transmission provides a main feed alongside Vision Assist, which displays surroundings in full colour for improved spatial awareness.

Charging Options

Charging is supported either directly through the aircraft or via the included 360 Two-Way Charging Hub. With a compatible charger rated at 65 W or higher, the hub can charge up to three batteries simultaneously and supports power accumulation, transferring energy from lower-charged batteries to a higher-charged one to extend usable flight time.

With three included batteries, this setup allows multiple flights in succession before needing to recharge, making it more suitable for longer shooting sessions and location work.
