New Pigment Ink Lucia PRO II

Canon has developed the second-generation Pigment Ink Lucia PRO II for the PRO-1100 Printer, which provides a number of user benefits. These include:

Improved image quality and durability:

1. Dark colour reproduction is improved (Art Paper / Glossy Paper)
2. Black density (Art Paper)
3. Chroma Optimiser (CO) ink improves gloss uniformity and suppresses bronze (Glossy Paper)
4. Vivid colour reproduction and mapping property
5. Long term preservation with up to 200 years lightfastness
6. Abrasion resistance is better with resistance to scratches after post processing (Glossy Paper / Semi Glossy Paper)

Newly developed inks are used for 11 of the 12 inks except for matte black.

Excellent colour reproduction

The imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 A2 printer utilises the same ink and head as the considerably more expensive large format PRO-6600 / 4600 / 2600 printers. This places it firmly at the professional end of the printer scale, offering excellent image quality with wider colour gamut, plus better colour reproduction for blue dark areas and graduations when using Art or Glossy paper.

A high density arrangement of colour from the 12 tanks also achieves extremely vivid colour reproduction, which is perfect for professional photographers and designers who need to accurately represent colours.

Improved black density

A new matte black ink formula achieves darker and deeper blacks by increasing coverage and by using low reflective pigments, which is ideal for photographers who print black and white images.

Excellent lightfastness

Lucia PRO II achieves up to an incredible 200 years lightfastness and long term storage, compared to 45-60 years for the previous generation inks. When printing on Fine Art paper users can expect up to 180 years lightfastness.

Improved abrasion resistance on Glossy printed paper surface

By adding wax to Lucia PRO II inks, the printer creates prints on glossy paper which are more scratch resistant. This is ideal for framing, post processing and transporting prints without causing any damage while handling.

Transparent Ink Chroma Optimiser Settings

Users can select CO ink settings for laminating and other processes where CO is not required. White parts and image borders can also be excluded from having CO applied by electing ‘image only’ in the setup menu, optimising the use of CO and controlling bronzing.

Expanded paper size support

Canon has added seven standard paper sizes for regular papers and four new sizes for borderless papers such as 7 x 10, 9 x 13, B4 and Legal. This streamlines paper loading and print settings for busy users who work with a variety of size formats.

The printer driver has been updated with new settings including extended panoramic lengths of up to 3276.7mm and the CO setting mentioned earlier. Additionally it’s now quicker to register custom media by allowing custom media to be selected as a reference to copy, reducing the number of user steps to just four.

WiFi 5GHz and improved security

The PRO-1100 printer offers improved connectivity for stable, high-speed communication, plus the latest security support for WPA3/TLS 1.3 standards, enhancing both efficiency and security.
